Making your first wine is like raising your first child; you really are unsure of what you are doing, and you hope that others who are more experienced will help guide you. Both Steve and Ben who collaborated on their first ever “solo” wine (dry Riesling), found themselves in that very boat together while at the same time were each expecting a new family with their wives. We are thrilled to say that all three “First Borns” are thriving and making their dads proud! The delivery of the 2022 Riesling is dry with a bright and racy acidity. It’s playful in the mouth with tropical notes of mango and starfruit plus a palate that continues with white peach, apricot and citrus. Naturally, Steve and Ben had our winemaker Brian nearby as a “wine midwife” but they made their own decisions and can now watch their First Born vintage venture out into the world with confidence and every reason to impress.
