Merlot

Description

It's been a decade since we've offered a varietal Merlot and prior to that, yet another decade. It is a rare sighting at Vineland Estates but when we can release a singular varietal bottling, hang on for the enjoyable climb! The classic nose of this release is focussed with a warm field berry base supported by sour cherry and soft plum. Light cracked pepper notes highlight peaks while the deep rumblings of aged cedar box and fine coca powder fill the valleys of this towering wine. The bright acidity is like an angular fissure allowing access while the resolved tannin structure provides grip and balance. In total, it is uniquely satisfying to reach the summit of this engaging Merlot.
